Plimbare spre Vf. Ciucas. / Trekking up Ciucas peek.

ENGLISH:

The main reason of my trip to Cheia was to revisit and reconquer Ciucas peek. And of course to come back with lots and lots of amazing photos 🙂 The trip was simple, from Cheia following the yellow strip marker all the way to Ciucas cabin ( passing Munte Rosu cabin as well) and from there the red strip marker all the way to Ciucas peek, with a return over Bratocea Ridge (also marked with the red strip).

The plan was set, so off i go on my 2nd day in Cheia. Woke up at 7 in the morning, but since i felt kinda lazy i staid in bed until 8 when i finally managed to get up and drink my morning coffee, following with leaving for the trekk at about 8:20. The dumbest thing i did was to not have breakfast that morning and since i am soooo not a morning person i managed to leave without packing any food for the road… At least i was inspired to get water with me, since i know that beyond Ciucas caban there was no place to resupply.

Up until Munte Rosu caban, the road is easy, partially through wood trails, partially following an old ruined road, that cars can still acces (i don’t recomend bringing the car here, unless it’s a big SUV). From this caban the trek gets more beautiful and more interesting(also this is where i started taking photos). Onward the trail looks easy, a casual stroll through the woods in the shade, with a nice spring on the way at „Nicolae Ioan well” where i drank the most refreshing cool water ever, and i also resupplied for the rest of my trip 🙂 but soon the trail will take you out of the woods and the climb will get steper until Ciucas caban, which has been recently reconstructed (lat time i was here, it was a bunt down ruin) and it now looks really nice and was waiting with open doors for all travelers. Of course i took a longer stop here to enjoy a yumy fruit tea. Keep in mind that this is the last place you can get water…

I drank my tea, relaxed a bit and moved onward toward the peek following the „red stip” indicator this time. From here, the scenery and the view becomes more charming. The cold mountain wind made me forget about the pesky sun and with small steps i went toward the peek. The amazing beauty of the trail you can see in the photos below. 🙂 I met a few people at the peek, a group that were resting there next to a fluffy sheep hearding dog. Spent a few minutes up there as well, to take some photos and rest a bit and to enjoy the satisfaction of a conquered objective.

And with that i left onward, this time on the other side of the peek toward bratocea ridge, enjoying the scenery more. Here the wind was stronger, the area being more exposed, i could even feel i was taking flight… On this trail i have met no other person… The trail was amazing with only one small issue. The end of the long trail was at a national road at the border between the Brasov and Prahova districts… and from here there were 11,5 km left to walk along that road back to Cheia. And as you probably know, the last trekk is the hardest. But i overcame this part as well 🙂

I am happy that i made it all the way up Ciucas peek again, but i now have a new objective here. I have to come back and climb Zaganu next 🙂
