O plimbare prin Sighisoara / A stroll through Sighisoara.

Calatorie placuta…

ENGLISH:

Since i already showed you the medieval festival of Sighisoara, i thought it might be a good idea to show you the rest of the city as well. Narrow streets full of small beautiful houses in many different colors, a medieval fortress that is declared a world heritage site, old buildings in many architectural styles and quite a few view points to admire the whole city, these are just a few of the elements that make Sighisoara unforgettable. My first visit here was during the festival, a special delightful event that changes the face of the town completely. Lucky me that i organized my time so that i managed to walk the city’s streets as well…

The fortress in the middle of town is the main objective and is one of the few fortresses in Europe that is still inhabited. The old houses inside the Fort are well maintained and still keep the medieval air of a different age, that being the reason why this Citadel is declared a world heritage site on the UNESCO monument list. Almost all the city’s touristic sights are here, like the covered staircase, the old gothic churches and even the cemetery on the hill. Also here i had the oportunity to uncover a small school museum that i visited, reminding myself of the days when i was a kid 🙂 Also in the fortress there is a colection of medieval weapons, and a special collection in the Clock Tower that descibes the old craftsman guilds and their ocupations… Sadly i did not pay the photo tax, so i can not show you photos from these museums, but i invite you all to see them with your own eyes and i promise you they are worth seeing…

The town is beautiful and very quiet, especially if you let yourself be randomly guided by your feet. And since i told you about the old houses with awesome architectural styles, i hope you will spot below the house with many many eyes on it’s roof 🙂 It’s the small architectural details that always attract my attention and make exploring a new city awesome…

The bewt viewpoint in town is of course the Clock Tower, whitch offers a perfect view in all directions. A fun fact is that here you can find small plates that point toward the major European cities and tell you the distance in KM as well, adn the most fun and special is the sign pointing at the South Pole 🙂

That’s it for now. I hope i convinced you through words and photos that Sighisoara is worth seing 🙂

Have a pleasant trip all…
