Muntii Piatra Mare / Piatra Mare mountains

Buna ziua inca o data.

ENGLISH:

Good day once again.

Last time i showed you how beautiful autumn can be and now that the seasons have changed, i thought that it’s time to show you the majesty of winter. And what better place to do this that in the mountains? 🙂 Thus i took a 2 day trip in „Piatra Mare” mountains, climbing all the way to Piatra Mare Peek. 2 days full of snow and joy, lots of sun and mulled wine at the chalet and of course lots of photos…

Our path started at a place called „Dambul Morii”, in the village of Timisu’ de Jos. At first we did not know what to expect, the wind was cold and the path was mostly mud. But as we kept going, the mud got covered by snow and the cold moved aside to let the sun’s warmth cover us. An easy trekk, but very beautiful. Slow going and with lots of breakes we managed to reach the chalet in the afternoon, a bit tired for our lack of stamina. Here we decided to stay out and do the peek the following day, so as not to risk being caught my night on the path… At the chalet we had a reservation to be sure we had a place to stay ( 0744.32.26.32 Mr. Attila Kovacs is the lodge keeper).

The evening was very nice at the lodge, with good food and warm tea or mulled wine 🙂 We had the surprise to find some board games at the lodge and so we played some Remi there… The lodge was recently renovated and looks really nice and most important it is quite warm in winter time 😀 And at night the view from here is incredible. Afar we see the lights of Brasov city flickering in the night and above us a sea of stars cover the whole sky. A breathtaking view indeed.

The next morning, but not very early, we had a delicious breakfast to gather energy for the rest of the day and we took off toward the peek. Depending on stamina, you can get there between 45 min and 1h:30, on a trekking path that gradually opens a view in all directions. From the peek we had the opportunity to admire the Bucegi mountain range covered in snows… Piatra Mare Peek – 1844m reached with pride by our little group and some other travelers we med around here 🙂

And from here we took the decision to not come back on the same path. Thus we followd the red cross and blu line markings toward Timisu’ de Sus. And it was worth it, because as much as the first dayt’s path was beautiful, this one was even more so 🙂 As far as the eye could see, there was only snow. We left our marks in the snow, sometimes falling all the way to our knees in it. An amazing experience. Our descent took us near Tamina chalet and the waterfall bearing the same name, but since time was short we did not adventure in the canyon this time, but i promise we will get there as well and show you what an amazing place it is… The end of our path took us on a forest road that lead all the way to Timisu’ de Sus, from where we took a bus to Timisu’ de Jos where we had left our car.

That is about it for now, i hope you enjoy the photos and i wish you all good and sunny days.
