If spring is upon us, i say we go back to winter for a bit. I always liked coldness over hotness and the definition of cold can describe the objective i am about to describe for you: The Ice Hotel at Balea Lake

Usually when we pay for accommodations, we expect some specific facilities for out money. 100 Euros should bring a lot of facilities… or not ? In the Fagaras Mountains, during winter, one can stay in an ice igloo 🙂 Without heat, without wi-fi, without many other things, just nature and the full force of winter for company. Whether you come to stay the night, or just passing through as i did, you will surely see something incredible. Here we can visit a number of chambers and igloos , each with a specific theme (usually inspired by movies), we can see nature battling winter, thus having the occasion to take a stroll over lake Balea, which is completely frozen (you can cross the lake by foot or by snow-mobile) 🙂 Not to mention the incredible view of the Fagaras Mountains covered in a blanket of snow…

I will leave you with a few photos in remembrance of the passing of winter.

Domeniile Sambata

Tot in aceasta zona gasim si izvorul parintelui Arsenie Boca.

Among the many objectives of Brasov County, we count the estates at „Sambata de Sus” where we can see an amazing monastery and at „Sambata de Jos” where we can visit a horse ranch that breeds Lipitan horses. Both objectives are amazing.

At the Brancoveanu Monastery of Sambata de Sus, there is also an academy with the motto”spirituality, culture, art, science”, being a place where anyone in the pursuit of knowledge is welcomed.

At the Horse ranch of Sambata de Jos, we can see horses in their natural habitat, out in the fields and in the barns and we can even see a special place where the mares and their babies are kept. (pictures below). A wonderful place to spend a day to connect with nature.

Also in these parts we can find the spring of Father Arsenie Boca. The waters of this spring are said to be miraculous.

Drumul Transfăgărășan si Cetatea Poenari / Transfăgărășan Highway and Poenari Fortress

Dealungul acestui drum avem cateva obiective superbe ale tarii noastre: Cetatea Poenari, Barajul si Lacul Vidraru, Cascada Capra, Balea Lac si Balea Cascada.

Va las cateva fotografii sa va faceti o impresie 🙂

Transfăgărășan Highway is the most beautiful road in our country and it connects Muntenia with Transilvania, crossing the Fagaras Mountain range. This road has a total distance of 151 Km, from the Bascov town in Arges County all the way to the vecinity of Sibiu in the village of Cârțișoara. Along this road you can see some amazing places of our country: Poenar Fortress, Vidraru lake and dam, Balea Lake and Waterfall.

Poenari Fortress is a special place, very beautiful thanks to the natural scenery and historical important for our country, this being the second residence of the ruler Vlad Tepes, as well as an important bastion against the Otoman Empire. Visitors must prepare physical for this objective, because it is placed about 400 m above sea level, the acces being done by climbing 1480 steps 🙂 But the climb is totally worth it, because the view from the fortress is amazing.

If you have an available day and want to have a city-scape, i recommend this tour to visit all the beautiful objectives in the area. I leave you now with a few photos 🙂

Gradina Botanica Bucuresti in vara – Bucharest Botanical Gardens in summer

Despre Gradina Botanica v-am mai scris si in iarna aici.
