Domeniile Sambata

Tot in aceasta zona gasim si izvorul parintelui Arsenie Boca.

Biserica fortificata din Cincșor – Fortified church of Cincșor

Iata-ne ajunsi din nou in Transilvania si ce putem vedea aici? Biserici fortificate 🙂 Astfel va prezint astazi o mica, dar superba biserica evanghelica, situatia in satul Cincsor.

ENGLISH:

Here we are again in Transilvania and what can we see here? Fortified Churches 🙂 Thus i will show you today, a tiny, yet superb Evangelical church, placed in the village of Cincsor. As with all churches of that time, this building was the soul of the community and in moments of dangers it was also the force of the community. Behind the walls of the church, the villagers would take shelter in times of attack (which was pretty often). The church has many towers were people would store food, grains, tools and other essentials to rebuild their lives (the attackers would usually burn everything they could, including the villager’s houses). A small glimpse into the past, to harsh times but when people were full of hope.

Biserica Densus – Densus church

In general, in Romania putem spune ca daca ai vazut o biserica, le-ai vazut pe toate. Acelasi stilarhitectural, aceleasi picturi, aceleasi icoane, acelasi lucru.

ENGLISH:

Generally, in Romania, we can say that if you’ve seen a church, you’ve seen ‘em all. Same style, same paintings, same thing. Of course there are exceptions, churches that stand out through architecture or paintings.

Today i will tell you about a church that is absolutely unique in our country. The church Densus is built in an unique style, raised as a pagan temple that was later converted. Experts keep arguing about the age of the church, because for the construction of this church were used many stones from the ruins of Ulpia Traiana Sarmisegetuza. Also many parts have been added to the original construction, making dating the church impossible.

Some legends say that this place of worship was built during the time of the ancient Dacia and the after the Romans conquered them, they started desecrating their temples to bring down morale. One of the ways they would do that was for soldiers to go intro the church mounted on their horses, destroying everything and leaving horse droppings everywhere. In order to prevent them, dacians builders placed a huge block of marble over the entrance so that not only would soldiers be forced to dismount, but also bow low in order to enter humbled. I know not i it is true or false, but i did see the marble block 🙂

Between legend and truth, we have now a superb and unique church that is worth a visit. 🙂
